Saint Joseph School in Webster welcomed students back for the 2026–2027 school year following several days of preparation, professional development, and community-building among faculty and staff.

Before students arrived, teachers participated in professional development designed to strengthen instruction and support the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Sessions focused on mathematics instruction, effective classroom management, supporting students with ADHD and executive-functioning challenges, and using technology to enhance learning and maintain safe digital classrooms. Faculty and staff also reviewed school procedures and prepared to introduce the school’s new student formation policy, Living the Three Rs: Student Formation, Conduct, and Accountability.

The opening of school followed a staggered schedule, allowing students in different grade levels to begin on separate days. This provided younger students and those new to Saint Joseph School with additional time to become comfortable with their teachers, classmates, classrooms, and daily routines. It also helped faculty and staff provide more individualized attention as students transitioned into the new school year.

Adding to the excitement, students were greeted during morning drop-off by JoJo the Eagle, Saint Joseph School’s beloved mascot. JoJo welcomed students with waves, high-fives, and plenty of school spirit, helping to ease first-day nervousness and bring smiles to students and families.

Once all grade levels had returned, the school community gathered for its annual back-to-school assembly. Students and staff reviewed important expectations for the year, including the school’s guiding principles of Religion, Respect, and Responsibility. The assembly also provided an opportunity to recognize students demonstrating pride in their school and readiness for the year ahead.

One of the most meaningful moments of the assembly was the celebration of the Grade 8 students and their “Last First Day” at Saint Joseph School. Each eighth grader was presented with a strand of red beads to mark the beginning of this important final chapter in their elementary and middle school journey.

Saint Joseph School begins the new year as a growing and vibrant community. The opening days reflected the school’s commitment to academic excellence, Catholic identity, school spirit, and the formation of students through its Three Rs: Religion, Respect, and Responsibility.

From professional learning and carefully planned transition days to cheerful greetings from JoJo and a treasured Grade 8 tradition, the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year set a positive and memorable tone for the months ahead.
